    I think this would have come out rather differently if he'd expected the working poor to be part of the audience, which maybe just confirms that they don't particularly care if the working poor are in the audience, as even if the reforms got through the House the working poor still won't be able to make a dent in the cost of TV advertising necessary to get re-elected without said working poor, which is presumably why we do it this way:

    We can also do something about 35 million Americans who live in poverty every day. Here's the reason we should not just talk about it, but do something about millions of Americans who still live in poverty, because it is wrong. We have a moral responsibility to lift those families up.

    But maybe I'm just over-parsing.
