the strategic class:
It's strange that the people who, at least by the polls, have long been representing what is the present majority position against the war were probably never heard by the public. The muddy waters over at the American Center for Progress website seems to be caught up with its own misdirection, the logic of which falls on the draft side of the argument - and that seems to be the choice: either Democrats flank the GOP from the right with the draft or they push for withdrawal, either way they're employing Reagan era defense officials. Nobody who's anybody in the Democrat establishment will take the job risk of pushing for withdrawal, even while refusing to do so threatens the nation. It's strange to compare that "progressive" think tank's foreign policy to, say, the centrist New America Foundation laying out the far more anti-militarist, anti-imperialist policy.
