    north korea:

you'd think the long awaited end to a 60 year old war would be bigger news:

North Korea and United States also pledged in the agreement to respect each other's sovereignty and right to peaceful coexistence, and also to take steps to normalize relations.

"The United States affirmed that it has no nuclear weapons on the Korean Peninsula and has no intention to attack or invade (North Korea) with nuclear or conventional weapons," according to the statement, in assurances echoed by South Korea.

This is the first time peace has ever been offered by the US in return for anything, and has been one of North Korea's central, and legitemate, demands regarding nuclear non-proliferation.

We note that while conservative Heritage Foundation pundits will be upset they will be unable to foam much at the mouth much with their guy in office. Left of liberal Bruce Cummings will perhaps earn an i-told-you-so if the agreement works out and makes it to officially recognized status quo.

I heartily applaud the Bush administration for finally moving to end the Korean War and declaring peace. I need to go buy a bottle and maybe an eightball so I can party in his honor.
