I don't know how a simple xml processor can become such a fucking resource hog. Just browsing my damn library with this thing takes 5 seconds of spinning wheel to switch categories. And gapless playback? WTF is that? A new way to break things and bog my machine down, apparently. Now I remember why I stopped the software updates.

It's a pain, but iTunes 7 can be fixed. On one troubled box, I trashed everything but the music library itself -- plists, all .pkg receipts, the xml file and the previous libraries databases -- reinstalled the app, went through the setup wizard again and now the box is fine. Then I installed 7.0.1. It's still fine. YMMV, hopefully not in a way that makes you want to kill me.
