iraq and the senate's dodiddling:
It has been damn near three years since the first part was published.
It has been two years and three weeks since Senator John D. Rockefeller (D-WV), sitting in the Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee for three months now, said "While the completion of phase two is long overdue, the committee has continued this important work, and I expect that we will finish the review in the very near future".
It's been just under two years since he said "Pat and I have agreed to do it. We've shaken hands on it, and we agreed to do it after the elections so it wouldn't be any sort of sense of a political attack."
It's been close to a year and a half since Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) forced a closed session and got a six member panel together to report on the progress of the report.
It's been half a year since the WaPo reported that the report wouldn't be release until after another election, after which seemingly everything from the already long-ago completed Phase II Report not mentioning any of the Bush administration's statements was published.
It's been three months since Chairman Rockefeller briefly mentioned his intent to finally release the unreleased section of the final report: "We begin this year with a full plate. We have unfinished business that requires immediate attention, specifically the Fiscal Year 2007 Intelligence Authorization Bill and the remaining sections of the Committee’s review of prewar intelligence on Iraq."
Now I don't want to rush anybody or anything. None dare call me impatient. But, uh, all you have to do is hit the fucking print button guys.
