if you're going to just let them print money, maybe we should make a return trip to the free banking era:
for all the flurry of economists posting about whether the federal funds rate should be used to deflate asset bubbles, you'd think maybe regulating the "fraction" of reserves would be an obvious place to start.
Not to pretend that I know what I'm talking about. It's just a fraction of a thought that seems reasonably cheap to lend in the present ideological environment with few downside risks, especially after I took out a Concept Default Swap on a derivative of Dean Baker's Important People Should Warn Us of Impending Doom Before It Becomes Terribly Impending.
