I was so wrong for so long it just proves that you can't be right:

To discredit global warming theorists, George Will wants to demonstrate that 40 years ago climatologists were predicting another ice-age and that this prediction - obviously silly, right - is no better than the centuries-or-so-old discovery that CO2 increases radiative forcing and drives up the average ambient heat balance in the atmosphere. Here's my favorite:

"a new ice age must now stand alongside nuclear war as a likely source of wholesale death and misery" (International Wildlife, July 1975)

This is a fabulous quote for Will's argument, as it's a famously bad prediction by one Nigel Calder. Nigel Calder is today a global warming "skeptic" that as far as I can tell is still standing by his famously bad 1975 prediction.

Needless to say, this quote proves nothing about the poor predictive success of climatology, since Nigel Calder wasn't and isn't a climatologist, but has become a important source for the global cooling myth that is now conveniently used to bash climatology's predictive record despite the fact that it was today's global warming denialists that were predicting the oncoming ice age then, and even more impressively often still are.

Amazing. I should read George Will more often. Apparently he's practicing a form of ketman or dissimulation in which he authors obviously self-defeating arguments that could only serve to undermine the conservative order, furthering revolutionary objectives he holds in secret.
