twenty five years of "deregulation"..., 2005-06-22 11:57:50 | Main | just kill me..., 2005-06-24 14:55:07

"I think it's a disgrace to say that any man or woman in the military would act like that"? Daley should shove his head back up his ass from whence it came. Bad enough the wingnuts are gonna go ballistic over nothing, like the country needs machine democrats acting like idiotic morons too. The FBI reported it, generals and presidents in the military oked it, and that's the disgrace. It's almost as sad as the fact that these illogical, braindead, incoherent fuckwit stalinists can drag a decent guy like Durbin down and make him apologize for shit he never said.

update: And then Karl Rove trolls out of his swamp and says "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers", and the best congressional democrats can do is say Rove wants to "divide us for political purposes"?

So they want a fight and Democrats want to drop off the radar. Is it any mystery why they're seen as pathetic? Rove says take your best shot and they turn the other cheek. How about 'while the Bush administration was busy making plans to invade Iraq Osama Bin Laden was using his get out of Tora Bora for free card'. Or 'while liberals wanted to destroy Al Qaeda conservatives were drawing up blueprints for Jihad University'.

update update: duh, honest political discourse on the part of Democrats would involve going on the attack, instead of poising defensively, as though Rove said something beyond the pale. Fight back for fucks sake, these guys have glass jaws.

    Comments:
I wish he hadn't apologized. Every time someone backs down for a mob of bullies, it gets harder for anyone inclined to take a stand to summon up the courage. The opportunistic pile on from Daley is worse. Very few people are capable, anymore, of thinking past the next media cycle. The last thing said is what sticks in their heads.

when i called up durbin's office to express my dismay at his apology, the staffer i spoke to sounded even more pissed off than i am.

The wingnuts are right about one thing: appeasement doesn't work.
